Application and Maintenance of Dominion Hemp
Standard Bedding System
- 3-6 bags (3-inch depth) is preferred for best performance.
- Add one bag to replenish every 3-7 days.
Stall Maintenance
- Use a sidewall/basket muck rake specifically designed for large animal enclosures.
- When cleaning a stall, start by clearing the piles of manure. Fill your muck rake about half full of scat and bedding, then sift, twist or shake the clean bedding off. Filling the muck rake half-full will increase sifting efficiency.
- After manure is removed from the stall, look for clumps of urine. When cleaning urine in hemp bedding, it's important to look for darker spots. Once the hemp turns a darker color, it's ready to scoop, like kitty litter.
- Rake away the clean bedding around the edges and remove the clump of urine.
- Once all urine and manure are removed from the stall, use your muck rake to spread out and fluff up the remaining bedding.
- Add more bedding as necessary to maintain the recommended 3-inch depth.
- If more bedding is needed before the 3-day use period, schedule a consultation to optimize the bedding program.
